Default issue with playback on tracks recorded in Mono

    Hi;
Currently working on a project which involves a number of tracks recorded in mono (input device is Yamaha i88x) and the recording appeared to be working as per normal.

Now the issue is, when playing back the recorded monotracks they behave like the track is only on the left channel, ie; max volume is when panned hard left, in the centre level is down somewhat, panned to the right there is silence. Odd thing is, the multitrack and soundfile display is as expected with a mono track, i.e.: one waveshape centered.

It must be something obvious, but I am just not seeing it!
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Any chance you have some odd settings in the Mono section of the channel strip?

Or an unexpected pan setting at the input or output sections?

You do have the channel set to Mono at the top of the channel strip right?

You are correct, I have not set this to mono, i though this was to force a stereo track to mono, good catch though, i will test it later on.

I never had to force a track to mono when it was recorded as a mono track, it is just strange.

A mono track is a mono track and shouldn't have to be forced. This is an oddity.

Do the waveforms stay mono in the display if you zoom all the way in?

Were they recorded as 32bit float files?

What happens if you load one into soundfile view and hit 'R'? Stereo?

    Good luck!

They were recorded as 16bit (input device setting) Mono Device - D-01L etc.

I have to test regenerating the Peak Data files, at the moment they appear as mono files.

He was talking about an initial STEREO track, not a mono

You are right, if there is a stereo waveform on the track, the mono button is to force it to be mono (using one of the options with that button (sum of L,R, L only, R olny.....).

But your issue looks came from your setup of output channels. I wonder if your output channel is set to mono! with the option L Only.
You must disable mono mode of your output channel.
