    Default Best Practices

    Hello,

I want to ensure that I am doing this properly...so this is what I have:

    Equipment
ADA8000, RME HDSP 9652 and SAC
1 Vocal, 3 Guitars, 1 Electric Grand Piano, 1 Backing Track

    ADA8000 inputs
1: Vocal, Mono, Input Source 01
2: Nylon Guitar, Mono, Input Source 02
3: Acoustic Guitar, Mono, Input Source 03 <==== SAME
4: Electric Guitar, Stereo, Input Source 03-04 <==== SAME
    5: Electric Piano-Left: Mono, Input Source 05
    6: Electric Piano-Right: Mono, Input Source 06
    7: Not used
    8: Backing Track: FX Source

For the electric guitar, I am using the TH2 amp sim, and I want to ensure that I am getting a stereo input to the software. Right now I am using the Input Source 03 as Mono for one of the acoustic guitars - as well as the electric guitar using Input Source 03-04. Will this cause problems? Is this the best way to utilise these eight channles? Can I leave the HDSP Mixer left at the default setting?

    Thank you!

Of course it will give you problems if you have the same input assigned to two different channels.
What channels do you have the electric guitar patched into? You can't put two different sources into the same preamp.
Just put your acoustic guitar into Input 7 and rearrange the channel order into any configuration you want.

    Hello,

    Thank you airickess.

So this is what I have done:

    ADA8000 inputs
1: Vocal, Mono, Input Source 01
2: Nylon Guitar, Mono, Input Source 02
3: Acoustic Guitar, Mono, Input Source 03
    * This leave Input Source 04 available as a MONO input.
4: Electric Guitar, Stereo, Input Source 05-06
    5: Electric Piano-Left: Mono, Input Source 07
    6: Electric Piano-Right: Mono, Input Source 08
7: Backing Track: FX Source - or coming from SawStudio.

As you mentioned, if I have already assigned an input - do not use that input again for something else.

    Hello,

The Electric Piano uses 1/4" outputs - L/R. These will be going into the ADA8000 IN's - 7/8. These inputs will be panned hard left and hard right in SAC on Channels 5/6. I would like to link these two faders.

According to my earlier question regarding Gourps and Latches - the way to acomplish would be to use a latch on Channels 5/6 - as a latch is more permanent and therefore, does not have to be selected ahead of time? Is this corrrect?

Use a stereo ch for the piano, just set the
i/a to 7/8. Sac handle stereo ch the same way
as saw, in7 go left, in8 go right.

I also use TH2, if you set your Electric Guitar input as a mono source, it will still output in stereo, I believe...I would have to double check, but I am almost positive that is how I have it set up.

Yes...I am able to use Channel 4 as a MONO Input Source and still produce a stereo ouput. Thanks for the tip!

PS: TH2 is a truly great amp sim! To me there is nothing out there like it. A big THANKS to Brett for recommending it to me.

Totally agree...I tried a lot of sims, and TH2 sounded great (admittedly with a lot of tweaking), and also allowed for control from a MIDI pedal in SAC. Love it.
