Default OT... changing video dimension properties

Just thought I'd ask the software gurus here...
I have a DVR-MS file which in Microsoft Explorer "properties" incorrectly shows the dimensions of the video as 720x480, when it's really 1440x1020.

However, when viewing the file in MediaPlayer123, it correctly shows the dimension properties as 1440x1080. (and obviously shows so on screen)

The problem is, when I'm trying to convert the file, PAVTUBE is only seeing what Explorer is reporting - 720x480... showing only the upper left corner of the the original video (as full screen).

So I need to do something in the file which will change the properties that Microsoft Explorer is seeing from 720x480 to the correct 1440x1080.
    How do I do that??

You'll probably be able to us ffmpeg for that. Command line only but google it and you'll find the right settings.

"Audio shell" would also edit the properties as will. Without changing the file.

Nice tool. But it doesn't let you edit actual file info or 'video data' info section.

    The search goes on.

Do you want to keep it as dvr-ms?
I'd probably open it in Adobe Premiere, then render it out as a more convenient file type.

Settled on DVR-MS Converter (as a second choice)
I prefer the quality of PavTube but it seems that their software (unlike DVR-MS Converter) looks at the same data as Microsoft Explorer readout (or takes it directly from Explorer)... rather than the actual video stream data. Since these two data sets are separate, if "explorer' one is off - then the PavTube display inputs that faulty data - making it's final conversion worthless. I've written Pavtube last week... they said they'd send it 'up the chain', but haven't yet heard back.

Every thread was right on topic for an OT thread.

Perhaps you missed the post that transformed into its own off topic thread over night.

You missed where Operation ______ took the thread. He now moved it to it's own thread.
