I saw and heard this mic on a local PBS affiliate's program. It handled this guy's varying mic distance well and sounded pretty good. Anybody know what it is?

I have an Electro Voice - RE410 that looks almost identical.
Maybe an EV mic?
It looks like a Shure Beta 57 to me. The clip even looks like a Shure factory clip.
A 57 does not have the proximity effect emphasis that the 58 incorporates so the tonality would change a bit less with distance. The brightness of the blue color could be due to stage lighting.
Hello,
I could also be a Beyerdynamic, such as the TG V35d s.
I know Heil made or makes some goofy colored mics like that. Unless it's a custom paint job, I would suspect that it what it is.

It's also very similar to a Shure SM86 condenser.

Looks like a Heil PR20 or 22 with custom paint to me.
I was gonna say Beta57, but there's no break in the body an inch or so below the pop screen.
