I loaded Saw onto my wife's Windows 8 Laptop to use as a backup machine on a live gig.
When I hit the F keys it doesn't change views instead it wants to do other commands.
What am I missing?

Hello,
There is a setting in the BIOS to change the way in which the Function keys "function". I believe it to be referred to as "Alternate command keys"
Depending on the unit, you can go to the BIOS and determine what function you want the F-Keys to perform..
Hope this helps?
Or... most likely, the F-Keys need to be pressed along with an "Fn" key to act as F-keys instead of other functions such as volume, brightness, contrast... etc.

That's what I thought but when I hit Fn & an F key nothing happened.
Saw seems to working fine on this Windows 8 machine (of course I only ran it for a little while) but I'm not planning on using it for more than a backup.
There's just too much junk in Windows 8 that I don't want to deal with.
It would be nice if Microsoft would make a version of Windows 8 or 10 or what ever that was stripped down - aimed at business applications such as hospital, office, music, video, etc.
Customers who don't need their computer to work like an Iphone but rather an office style machine.
But I guess that's asking too much...
I guess i'll look into the Bios thing but live I only use the Show control view anyway.
I don't think my wife would be happy with me changing the function of her F keys....
I guess I'm going to have to look for a new backup machine since my net book is terminally ill.
Maybe I can find a NOS Windows XP laptop at Micro Center.

You could always use a usb keyboard with real function keys.

Speaking of airplane mode...
I flew to Tucson for Christmas week. First time I encounter being able to keep my phone on throughout takeoff and landing. What's the current deal with electronic devices, anyone know? I think 'larger devices' were still required to power down.
