    Default SAW and Superior Drummer

Hi Bob - I'm having a problem with SAW and Superior Drummer.

Superior Drummer loads and works great. I can make alterations to it and all is fine until I save the file and exit.
The next time I load the edl, all will work fine until I access Superior Drummer to make changes.
It crashes SAW - either locks up or disappears.

SD seems to be the only VSTi giving me this problem.

    Thanks Bob

Denis... try saving a SAWStudio preset for superior drummer and then look at the size of the file it saves... tell me what that is... also... see if you can load that preset and if it works.

I had a similar problem with Slate SSD4. Turns out it was a RAM thing caused by the VI trying to reserve too much. I solved it by lowering the detail settings which loads just over 400 megs. If I increase the detail level SSD4 tries to reserve about 1.2gigs and SAW crashes.

Hi Bob - saved the SD preset - it is 12,433 bytes.

It will load but I have to remove SD from FX Pre patches list, then reload it.

Matt - you may be onto something there - thanks.

How do you limit what the Vi reserves?

Thats well within the limits... but not sure about why you would have to remove it first... then reload.

If you are on a 64bit OS, using a 64bit plugin with a 32bit wrapper solves a lot of these types of memory problems.

I also have found that sometimes there seems to be memory held by plugins that doesn't clear by simply loading a new EDL. Closing SAW and then reopening it and loading the EDL fresh every time often helps in debugging these issues.

Also, turn off any caching that you have enabled in SAW's settings to free up some extra RAM.
