    Default RME sample rate weirdness

I'm using SAW Studio through a Ramsa DA7 board connected to the HDSP 9652 card. Lately, I've had to keep the sample rate at 48 in order to avoid echo on the recording and playback, even when SAW is in 44.1 mode.
Even when I'm recording at 44.1 and the 9652 app is in 44.1 I get echo on the file. The app has to stay at 48KHz in order to record without echo.
I can't imagine how this can even happen! I checked with RME and thought I had it under control by adjusting some things in Total Mix but the next day, there it was again.

Thank you for any idea or direction,

I have no idea what the relationship between 44.1 and 48 would be that would make this go away. But sounds like you have a feedback loop somewhere.

Go back to your RME driver settings and use Preset 1 and see if that helps clear things up.

Bill -- maybe if you change buffer settings it will reveal a clue? Does it change the delay time in the echo?

Check your SAW live monitoring settings.

    Do what Phil said.

    Reinstall SAW. Reinstall RME drivers.

Be certain you don't have something potted up on the board that you shouldn't.

FIXED! Thanks Philip. You too Dave.
But it was the Layout Preset 1 that put it all right.

I have no idea how it got that way. I hardly, if ever, go into Total Mix.

    Have a great weekend,

    Bill,

You should save current RME configuration to a file - which can then be called up when needed.

Glad you got it sorted. I'd just chalk it up to the full moon... or dirty pots... or something like that.

Full moon & dirty digital pots.
    Well it's kinda fixed.

After switching sample rates, it'll play the 44.1 file with echo. So I check the RME app, not total mix, and it reads 44.1. Then I go back to SAW and then it plays fine, kind of like the pot is stuck for a little while.

I'm going to check with Matthias at RME and see if I need to spray some cleaner in the pots.

    More later,
    Bill
