Default OT: recomendations for a portable interview rig

Got a podcasting client who wants to take her show on the road. I'm a bit out of the loop on suitcase recording options these days. Some options that occur to me include a laptop or a Zoom/Tascam-type dedicated device. Are there others? Looking for small learning curve/easy set-up/minimal package size and weight. Low cost is always preferred, of course.

One host. One or two guests. Wondering if lavaliers would be a good choice. Or head-worn mics (headphones/mic for her). She's currently doing the full radio-studio type setup in her home for her shows. Mics, booms, DAW.

I know decent lavs can get pricey. Are there quality affordable options these days?

    Thanks.

    I'd go with this:https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...=c&matchtype=e
for an interface. I can't advise on lavaliers vs. mics. She'd have to get a headphone splitter (passive is fine... I've run 5 headphones on the bigger brother of this interface).

Maybe you could get one at a local music store and give it a try to see if it suits her needs.

A Zoom H4N (or similar) with a couple of lavaliers would be very compact and easy to use.

    Thanks, guys.

If anyone has input on decent-sounding and not crazy-money laveliere mics, I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking one-to-two-hundred bucks each?

Thanks, Bruce, but it doesn't look like they make lavs.

Thanks, Rail. I think I rented from those guys when I was on a shoot back in 2000 at Universal. Only time I've ever worked in L.A.

They essentially saved my life. I showed up with a cheapo VHF wireless lav from Tucson at picked up all kinds of RF and had no range; they fixed me up with a nice Lectrosonics UHF unit. My first taste of the good stuff in location sound.

Hope you're well. Good to hear from you.
