    Default X-Touch One

Just Wondering, has any Sawstudio / Sac user obtained one of these yet!
Everbody who bought one seems to be complaining that the fader and pan does not follow the hot track and they are hanging out for a firmware update from Behringer.

I've held back purchasing one as in Australia the price seems to be about 30% higher than in the US (best price sofar $288 AUS)
and wonder if the "not following hot track" issue also impacts Saw / Sac
for the moment I'm sitting on the fence so to speak.

(from the Reaper Forum I learned that somebody (Geoff Waddington) is working on a software solution and is very very close, but this would only impact Reaper users I assume)

Love to hear from any Saw / Sac users experiences with the unit.

    Cheers..

    Robert,

It "appears" that no one has obtained one of those units as of yet.

But I would suggest that you do a search - and see what results you obtain.

...or take SAW/SAC (whichever) on a laptop and try it in a music store. Or buy one on the condition you can return it without penalty if it doesn't work properly. (Assuming you aren't purchasing on-line, that is).

I checked in a music shop in Melbourne and the units are available for sale in Australia and I believe also in Europe
and today I noticed Sweetwater is selling them on their website.
Have not seen any in the flesh but apparently people have been complaining about the not "following hot track" Issue so there are actual units being sold.
If I locate a unit in a Music Shop in Melbourne I will take a laptop and test as suggested!

    Cheers

Found A Music Shop with a unit in stock who were kind enough to let me hook up an X-Touch One to my laptop to test (Store DJ in Richmond Vic AUS)

This is the sequence of events (Please let me know if I did something incorrectly)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Start Sawstudio
File / Midi Control Template File
    Selected: MidiCtrl_Mackie_Control.mct

    Power up X-Touch One
Connect the X-Touch One to Computer using USB Connection

    Options / Midi Device Setup

    Select:
    Midi-Control Device In [X-Touch One]
    Midi-Control Device Out [X-Touch One]
    OK

(I assume that this means that Sawstudio recognizes the device otherwise X-Touch One would not show)

File / Preferences File - Save Default

    SMPTE / Midi
    Midi-Control Active

The moment I clicked to Activate Midi Control Sawstudio Locks up - waited about 5 minutes but remains locked
Computer required a forced a Reboot - could not kill Sawstudio Process

Repeated 3 times with identical outcome

That is as far as I got, nothing indicating on the X-Touch One to show anything is happening.

Hoping there are other SS/Sac users interested in the unit who are prepared to test?
BTW the OS is Windows 7 - Laptop is (old) Lenovo Thinkpad T410

I would say that Midi Control Out should be activated before Midi Control In, but I am not at all sure that would prevent your lockup problem.

    Angry Re: X-Touch One

I think I worked out what the issue is: (and it is embarrasing)
Sawstudio Midi Control File loaded was the Mackie Control File
The default startup mode on the X-Touch One is the HUI mode - so before connecting to SS, I will have to set the controller to Mackie Control mode.

I will eat Humble Pie next Monday and try to organise another test session if the unit is still available, apparently they are flying out of the shop.

Hopefully that explains the locking up issue and will allow me to do a proper test!

    Cheers!
