Default Recording not showing up on track

    Here's the scenario:

I save a new EDL and hit record on Track 1.
I hop into the booth and hit the record button on the Frontier Tranzport.
    I narrate for a while.
I come out and discover that nothing shows on Track 1, but there's a region in the Regions View.
SS seems stuck in Record mode. It will pause, but won't leave Record Mode.
If I click Insert To MT in the Regions View, the region shows up on Track 1, but there's a LONG diagonal mark like a SoftEdge that runs from the beginning of the region to a point twice as far down the timeline as the end of the region. But it has no effect on the audio.
If I open new, empty EDL and add the sound file, everything works as expected.

This is a Win10 system that behaved really well until the last few days.

    Any ideas?

Wow, Ian. That sounds bizarre, I've not seen anything like it.

    I'm no help at all,

You might check with iZoptope about this. I noticed at least a couple of questions in their knowledgebase that appear to be similar situations.
