Thread: Odd sample rate

  1. #1

    Default Odd sample rate

I've been working with a medical pump company on the different sounds their machine will make. The last set of files I sent were wav at 22.050/16 bit. Now they're asking for 21.875 KHz! I don't have anything that will render at that rate.

Is there any way I can deliver a file at that sample rate?

    TIA,
    Bill

Adobe Audition will let you do sample rate conversion and has a field you can type the sample rate into.

I just checked this and it allowed me to enter 21,875 into the rate field and converted a test file without issue.

    Thanks Philip,

I also just stumbled upon a "custom" choice in SAW Studio at the bottom of the drop-down choices.
I typed in 21.875 and voila!

    Amazing program, that SAW!

    Bill,

I often wonder if some live just to be a nuisance to others. I mean, what an odd sample rate!!

I am also so very glad that you we able to resolve this one as well.

    Thank you Dell.
I asked abut that and it had something to do with the clock on the pump and at this point, it's to late to change the circuitry.
But at it's inception ... WHY???? Oh well.

Cool, but weird. It's not like you can check playback at any custom rates. Or... is it? I guess if your hardware can be set to custom rates. I don't think I've seen this setting before in any hardware driver applet, though.

One also wonders how SRC quality may vary by custom sample rate. Hmmmm...
