Default Win 10 graphics not snappy

So far I've only had the chance to test SAW64 (demo version) on Win10 on a bootcamp Mac. I noticed that the F-key transitions were very sluggish. On XP and Win7 they were instant - it was one of the big appeals of SAW, how incredibly solid and fast all the visuals were.
Is this a problem with Win10 or with SAW64 (as opposed to SAW32) - has anyone else noticed, and if so, is there a chance that anything can be done to improve things?

... this is definitely NOT a problem with SAC/SAW-64-bit or WIN10.

    Ensure that:
    1. You are using the Windows Classic theme

    2. The System Properties > Advanced > Setting Performance tweaks have been configured.
    * Enable: Adjust for best performance
    * Enable: Show shadows under mouse pointer
    * Enable: Show shadows under windows
    * Enable: Smooth edges of screen fonts
    * Enable: Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop

    3. That you are using the High Performance Power Plan - for sure
    * Disable: USB selective suspend setting

These are the basic Windows 10 tweaks.

Let us know if these help?

Thanks Dell. All those settings were in place (very similar to XP tweaks) with the exception of USB which isn’t relevant as I’m not using USB disks or interfaces.

Anyone else care to comment, positively or negatively about Win10 graphics performance?

    Dominic,

    You should disable this anyway.

Did you install the 64-bit version on a PC and test the end result? Then compare that install to the install on the MAC.

I havent noticed any hit on SAW F keys, but I have noticed a performance issue which I believe is tied to changes in Open GL between Win8 and Win 10. Waves plugins especially seem to be causing a performance hit when their GUIs are open on my system.

Why? It serves no purpose and is not relevant to the graphics discussion.

No, I don't have a PC at the moment and won't invest in one if I'm not happy. I've been an all-Mac shop since I stopped using SAW a few years ago, and moving to PC would be primarily to use SAW64. But I want to know it would work to my satisfaction.

Windows on a Mac as a native install (i.e bootcamp rather than Parallels) is equivalent to running on a PC as the hardware is pretty much all the same. I don't have a recent Mac with a T2 chip, so it's all standard Intel CPU based stuff.

    Thanks Michael.

Do you get the same behaviour on Waves plugs if you use another DAW (Reaper perhaps)?

    Dominic,

What of disabling "Link State Power Management"?

Also, what of using the "areo light" theme, WinaeroTweaker and OOSU10 to terminate a number of background Windows processes?

    Is Cortana disabled?

    I’ll try and test it.

Dominic, I would check in device manager if Windows is using a generic driver, or a driver specific to the chipset in the Mac.
