Default OT: Screen capture/record with ASIO

    Good day,

I gather that screen capturing/recording using ASIO is not all that easy to do in the Windows environment?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Update: Been testing out the no-longer-available O Deus ASIO LINK software. Outside of a few glitches, this appear to be working alright.

    Hi,
You could check out Voicemeter https://vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/index.htm or maybe Jack https://jackaudio.org/downloads/.

    Good day,

    Thanks guys..much appreciated.

Update: However, it looks as if you still require a means of recording the ASIO output...via ASIO Link or ?? Would this be correct?

Depends on the particular software tool.

I'm not sure about Camtasia, but OBS allows you to select the audio source separately from the video source so theoretically should work out of the gate without any additional drivers or utilities.

Will this work with Lynx L22? (which has One Analog stereo output: where Lynx is assigned to device of Audio Playback, say, SawStudio, while simultaneously trying to assign it to OBS record - when ASIO can only have one device)??

I can do with with Logitech Screen capture while in MMC.... but for some reason have not been successful with OBS in ASIO.

Just wondering if need to get 8in/8out ADDC to better accomplish multi-devices with ASIO?
Or does ASIO see (say an ADAT) ADDA interface as 'one' audio device so it wouldn't work simultaneously with OBS anyway)?

    cgrafx,

"...but OBS allows you to select the audio source separately from the video source so theoretically should work out of the gate without any additional drivers or utilities"...Not so!

I had to use ASIO Link to record the ASIO output from SAC.

What IS interesting, is that this particular scenario seems to be an issue with many, many others. If os, why has not someone resolved thus issues?

    So...SAC to ASIO Link
    * Waveplayer in SAC
    Install the OBS ASIO driver
    Install FL Studio ASIO driver
In OBS, insert ASIO Input...which is then assigned to FL Studio ASIO
    * Insert Display Capture for video

That is it for my end...a lot more testing to do...

    Carl,

    Thanks for the tip...much appreciated...

However..notice the focus on WIN10...so not at all applicable to WIN7 users.

Notice also the WIN10 version...1803...so from March of 2018.
    * The latest version of WIN10 I believe is is 2010 - or version "20H2".
    * Therefore, the text may no longer be applicable due to the versioning aspects of WIN10!!

In the FAQ in "Why this is useful"..it states, "The most common use case for routing application audio to different devices is in combination with virtual cables..."
    * So, this article, though interesting, does not address the issues that I am currently facing.

What I find truly disconcerting, Carl, is that ASIO has been with us since 1997...so why is it apparently so difficult to obtain software the uses ASIO natively...without the need to use virtual cables or "other" such measures?

    Good day,

After a number of tests, I have opted to use the following:

Captura Screen Recorder: Free and open source, also has a portable version.

ASIO Link Pro; Non longer available, but can be sourced out via the Web.
    * I DID contact the developer a few years back - and was able to purchase a copy.
    * However, since then, any further contact that I have only received can only be attributed to what I believe to be a "canned" response.
    * Any other assistance that I may be able to provide can be accomplished via a PM.

    Procedure
    1. Install ASIO Link Pro.
    2. Install Captura.
    3. Configure SAC/SAW too use ASIO Link Pro.
    4. Configure Captura audio to use Mix 01 (ASIOVADPRO Driver)

    That is it!

UPDATE!: I was able to get OBS to finally work...I gather you need to exit and re-launch OBS...setting the Mic/Auxiliary to Mix 01 (ASIOVADPRO Driver)
    * So, I would assume then that ASIO Link is somehow internally routing the ASIO Output of the audio interface to the Line Input of the audio interface.
