Default OT Interfacing with older equipment.

I wanted to see what everyone would come up with.

    The issue.
    PC in a SFF case.
    New Digiface USB (nice)
    ADA8200 (easy install)
Apex 188 (oops) only output to Digiface. Coaxial in for word clock.

The issue is the provide word clock via coaxial input to the 188. No room for a RME HDSP card or I would have gone that route. So is there a way to go from a ADAT to a Coaxial. I have found these but haven't tried it yet.

Not following what your trying to accomplish

According to the info online the Apex 188 is a USB microphone which connects directly to the PC.

Quoted directly from the APEX website
"The Apex188 is a true stereo USB condenser microphone designed to direct connect to any USB 2.0 equipped computer or laptop."

    This should help.
It's a 8ch remote preamp with ADAT out and a clock in. Quite old to where you can't find it on the website.

I'd go with the Apex. It's much less expensive.

Aphex 188.... ok that makes more sense now.

Cant you use the word clock out of the ADA8200?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that will pass through the external clock coming from the PC/RME

I could use the ADA8200 as the master>188. Do you think the clock would be past on through the 188 to the ADAT out to the RME then on the PC via the USB.
    Or
Make the 188 the master and see if the clock passes through the ADA8200 ADAT out to the RME then on to the PC.

    OMG I think it worked!
I still have to run some test but the RME shows sync to both preamps.

I believe if you make the RME the master the ADA will pass that through. This would allow SAC/SAW to control the clock rate.

Should be really easy to test, although sounds like you may have already found your answer.

I'll give it a try to make the RME the master. Having SAC/SAW control the clock rate would be much more comforting.
