Default Youlean Loudness Meter in SAWStudio: Field Report

Well, I had high hopes for both the original free Youlean Beta and, more recently, the free version 2. Both have worked fine for a while, then started crashing SAW. Of course, as is usually the case, most of the aggravation comes from the time and effort it takes to figure out why the sessions are crashing. ARGH.

I recommend not using either of these, unless you're ready to spend some time working around the crashes. One method I used on the Beta was to only patch it at the very end of my mixing and editing for a session for that final mastering loudness dial-in. But then version 2 seemed stable, so I was leaving it in my session template. No more.

Unless/until I find something else, I guess I'll revert to my end-of-post-workflow approach, I suppose. It's nice to use when it's not crashing my DAW.

    Anywho: word to the wise.

Oh, for the sake of full disclosure: I used the Youlean Beta primarily on SAWStudio32 and Youlean 2 on SAWStudio64. No bridging needed in either case. FWIW.

And if anyone has recommendations for a free or affordable loudness meter, I'm all ears.

    Cool. Thanks, Stash.

All the same shell challenges that we've come to love using any Waves VST in SAWStudio, I presume?

You definitely "get what you pay for" with the free stuff much of the time. Thanks, again.

Well, the Waves WLM meter is now on sale today only for $29.
But, since Dave already found the free non-pro version, he won't be interested.
