Default OT: VST that outputs MP3s? Other replacements for JMS plugs (to use in SS64)?

Since switching to SAWStudio64 it occurs to me that I've lost my old workhorses from JMS Audioware: LACE, BFG, and CSG.

Anyone know of a VST that will generate MP3s?

I can see getting by without CSG (Cue Sheet Generator) since CDs aren't much of a thing, anymore, but I know I'm gonna be smarting next time I need what BFG (Batch File Generator) brought to the table.

Any insights vis-Ã*-vis replacements? Please share!

I just take the mixed file into a separate SAWStudio 32 folder for MP3 conversion.

Kinda defeats the purpose of the one-step build-to-FX-modules approach, no?

I always make a wave for archival purposes anyway, and then just batch convert using DB

    Yep... That's the bummer part.
Lot of quick flexibility lost in various quick mixdowns, but it does work in 32.
So Lace doesn't work with Jbridge?

Would be nice to know the alternatives (as I am slowly moving over to 64 myself)

Me, too. The exception for me is when I have long-form stuff (hour-long podcasts, for example) for which I'd rather not wait around for the extra step (MP3 conversion). And in those cases I pretty much never need a WAV version. And if I ever did, I can always go back to the session and render it. (Assuming of course that all the plugins are still working, etc. Yeah, so there's that.) But, again, I kinda never need the WAVs. MP3 is king in podcast dissemination land.

I don't believe so. Though, I must say I haven't tried it. Pretty sure Jbridge is VST-specific.

Ya know, reading your last post I had the idea of sticking with SS32 for my podcast productions just so I didn't have to make hour-long MP3s in two steps, but now I'm remembering that I'd dropped that approach a while back (well before I moved to SS64) because LACE couldn't make anything better than 32 KHz MP3s at 96 kbps/joint stereo, my desired destination parameters. Oh, well.

Dave, I just tried Lame (in SAWStudio32) and made a 32 KHZ Stereo MP3 at 256kbps... Works great.

On a side note: Good article here

The problem is I need 44.1 or 48. 32 KHz is not even "CD quality," you may recall.

Oh... I misinterpreted what you meant (can't do anything above 96 at 32khz)....
Don't you have settings like these? (hmmm pic won't upload but it shows
    Channels: Stereo
    Quality: High
    Constant Bit Rate: 320
VBR (not chosen ... but lots of choices)
    BTW... the "About" says:
LACE: Lossy Audio Compression Engine, version 0.7 beta for SawStudio (c) 2005 Jon Marshall Smith
    Supported Codecs: LAME BladeEnc OggVorbis

    Current Encoder: LAME Encoder
    DLL Version 1.32 (10/03/2006)
    Encoder version 3.97
    URL: http://www.mp3dev.org/

    Does that help any?
