Thread: New Web Host

  1. #1

    Default New Web Host

I've been using iPage for a few years and recently some of my emails have not been delivered to my clients!
Some of the non-delivered emails don't even bounce back so I'm not sure who's not getting them.

So, I'm looking for ideas for a new host for my website. Please let me know how you like your host if you run your emails through them. I like having mine sent with @bcproductions.com on the end.

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Bill,

I used GoDaddy for a time, but found that the option for local servers a better fit for me. So I went with HostPapa.

Thus far, I have had no issues whatsoever.

Pricing is also very reasonable. HostPapa is worth a kook-see.

PS: I believe that @[name] is associated with the actual domain name...so bcorkery@bcproductions.com should not be a problem at all.

    I hope this helps?

I've been using Total Choice Hosting for at least 15 years without a problem. May be closer to 20 years now. Time flies!

Been using Hostek.com for many years. Tech support staff are very responsive. They really seem to value their customers and their reputation.

I invariably go with the cheapest host I can find (who offers cPanel, etc.) cuz I'm cheap. Which generally means switching every three to five years, and I don't currently have a website (so you may wish to ignore me). But the email service has been fine with my current host. I have many accounts set up. A2 Hosting. No idea if they're offering a good deal right now.

    That is all.

    Bill,

If at al possible, try to ascertain where the servers are located?

The reason I went with HostPapa is that they have servers located here in Vancouver, BC.
    • I live 40kms east of Vancouver.
    • For FTP-type services, the location can be significant.

Your web host and email do not have to be the same location/service.

Get a domained gmail account for your email and then you can host your website anywhere you like and change hosts when needed without worrying about your email.

Thanks. I'll probably make the switch at the beginning of the year when things traditionally slow down for me.

They don't have to be the same, but you can still use your company email even if you switch hosts.

I may be a snob about this, but I don't think using a gmail address for business is very professional.
