Mackie MCU SAWStudioTemplates on eBay

For any of you who may be interested, as I'm writing this in September of 2023 there's a seller on eBay who has "more than 10" of the SAWStudio templates for sale for the Mackie MCU Pro DAW controller. I just got one, and it looks great! If you do a search on "SAW Studio" on eBay, it should come right up.

I would also be happy to send anyone a scan of it if you just want to see what it looks like. I tried to attach it here, but it was bigger than the forum would allow.

I just got my "new" Mackie MCU DAW controller, and found that the SAWStudio template I got on eBay for it is for the OLDER version of the controller - the one from 2004 to 2008. The buttons on that controller are small and round, just like my new template. The new controller's buttons are square and slightly larger. I think I can drill these holes out larger to fit the newer model - I'll report back after I've tried that.

What I decided to ultimately do was to order a modern, square-button template (of any DAW) for my controller, and just use my label maker and label it with the SAWStudio commands. I'm still waiting for that square-button template to arrive. Meanwhile, the round-button one actually does work - I screwed it down with the middle two screws, and it rests lightly on top of the square buttons and works fine.

And FWIW, I'm enjoying the Mackie very much! With my typical workflow, which is doing a quick-and-dirty mixdown of a 16-channel multitrack recording, having the faders makes things quick and intuitive. It took me a week or so to learn where all the commands are on the buttons, but I think I'm nearly as fast at this point as I was with the mouse and keyboard before. The tape transport controls are a real bonus - when I miss something, it's so easy to tap the rewind button and have it jump back 10 seconds and give me another shot at it.
