Thread: pre-fader

  1. #1

    Default SAW: pre-fader monitor indicators?

Hi all, maybe someone know if is it possible in SAW to switch fader level meters to show pre-fader signal? Thus making them unaffected by Mute, for instance.

    Thanks!

There may be a better way, but you might to send to an aux outputted to an unused output.

Any meter plugin (free, or good ones from Waves) should work fine pre-fader. Just tried several.. works fine.

Don't really get it... why SAC has a switch to show meters pre/post, but SAW has no such built-in thing.
So, is it the only way - to use third-party plug-ins?

just out of curiosity, what would be the point of showing meter activity on a channel that is muted or has the channel fader down?

SawStudio is not a live console, the only two audio sources are input when recoding (which has live meters) and playback of the recorded material.

showing a meter level on a channel that is muted or has the fader down would be visually counterintuitive as it would indicate the channel should be contributing audio to the mix when it was not.

if you need to know if there is audio on a specific channel just look at the corresponding record track. it will have an associated region or not.
