Anyone else seeing this? Ideas on how to make it stop?
Try with Opera browser, works fine for me on my Win10 studio PC

    Good day,

In the following post...I had noted that I had tested this potential anomaly on multiple browsers - 7 to be exact, and all without issue.

As a further test, I sent the the Forum link and the RML Labs link to a number of folks - of all experience levels...10-in-all, and none had any issues whatsoever.
    * I also asked a few of these folk that used tablets to do the same...both Android and OS, and none had any issues whatsoever!

So, I am not at all sure what is going on here...seems to be working for me!

Google did an update that made a change to the default content security settings in the Chrome Browser. This video shows you how to change it to see none SSL sites.

Thanks. Yeah, looks like some browsers are better-behaved than others.

    Hey John F,

Let's presume for a moment that it's not the browser that's doing it - but rather an extension. Sometimes when you load an anti-virus/anti-malware program, or even software for work, it automatically upgrades your browser by adding an extension to protect you from yourself as well as outside forces - and/or the company from your potential bad online habits. Both anti-virus programs, and also company IT network groups, tend to presume that all users are idiots (not without precedent). I've had that happen more than once. Might even be someone (wife?) who used your computer for work.

Can you check your browser extensions for us and tell us what they are? In particular, please tell us if you know about each one.

Sometimes banks do that as well - or even an ISP - again to protect themselves from your potential bad habits.

If it turns out to be an extension, you could just disable it long enough to do your download, and then enable it again (if you want to remain 'protected' by it).

I use Brave for browsing these days. There is a setting under Shields called "Upgrade connections to HTTPS". I set it to disable and all seems to be well now. There may be a similar setting in other browsers.

Good catch, Angie. But, most of the time upgrading to https is a good thing. There're almost no sites left on the web that can't use https. When using http, all your browser traffic is visible at every stop along the way. Of course, you can make a point of prepending all your sites with 'https' - either on the command line or saved in a favorite, and that will encrypt them individually. But any site that you don't indicate a preference for https will result in it being http. That's at least not ideal.

If you're willing to give it one last effort, turn 'Upgrade connections to HTTPS' back to 'standard' (not strict), then open this message so you can still copy from it and...:
    1. delete your Saw Studio Forum favorite altogether and, from the command line at the top,
2, type (or copy/paste) "http://www.sawstudiouser.com/forums/forum.php" - making sure you include the 'http://' part'
    3. click Enter, and then when the forum comes up,
    4. re-save it as a favorite.

Then close it, and reopen the forum from favorites. It should work.

Tried that many times, it would not stick.
I can change the setting at any time. This is the only site I have run across that I've had to do this for. But thanks for the good points made.

Wow. That's really strange. I'm using Brave to write this forum reply. Sorry I can't explain what's happening to you.
