I suggest that we really try to avoid going this route here on the forum...though I heartily agree with you!
* As a "side-note", we were one of the pioneers of "home-schooling" here in our area. Being in Canada, we had to register with an organization in Oregon...as-well-as having "school district lawyers" literally banging on our door stating that what we were doing was illegal.
* I would love to discuss this more with you on in this - outside of the Forum, sometime.

This site should have one the main RML Labs has one and it is not a forum.

I don't know what is involved in implementing SSL on a web site. But since encryption is employed, I presume that it is more involved than simply registering and paying the small fee. If it involves upgrading server software, and then the current forum software won't work and so has to be upgraded to work with that, and oops - the company went out of business and now it requires finding, learning, and setting up new forum software, and...

I could understand why Bob might not want to do it. Like.. not today everyday. I've run out of patience for technical hassle in my life. But, otherwise, I agree with Micro. Sans hassle, the optimum solution is to employ SSL. Practically the rest of the browsing world has already arrived there. And it would be good for all the people who contribute here since our relative identities would not be exposed to whoever is looking along the way. Actually, I would think it might also be good for SAC and SAW sales since it would allow our discussions to show up in web searches. Like - good advertising for them. Plus, one of these days 'http://' will likely stop working in major browsers and then it will be as if the SAW/SAC forum just went dead (been there before...).

But, of course, it's not up to us. And I'm thinking that Bob already knows all of the implications. So...

actually, it’s pretty much exactly that simple, and likely, doesn’t even generally require the small fee, as almost all web hosts offer free SSL Certs for non-commerce sites.

there is likely a config/setting change on the forum software to configure it to serve HTTPS, and also a database search and replace to update all forum references to https from http, but that about it.

Installing a SSL is easy just pay, copy and paste. This is a forum and has a database to run it so it will not be free but still is very cheap and easy to do.

Isn't this something that is controllable by the domain registrant at the host server? I seem to recall somewhere where you can indicate all the URL forms that will deliver the user to the actual website. (http://, www., http://www., etc.) Maybe it was "DNS Zones" in cPanel?

I say Google should leave well enough alone and leave it up to the domain registrant to make it work how he/she wants it. That would preclude this kind of problem. Of course, that leaves it up to the registrant to cover all bases. So be it.

Just out out of curiosity, is this lack of SSL certification the reason that Windows works so hard to NOT let one download RML products? It's hard to recommend these programs to other people when Windows blocks their download every step of the way!

I've never had any problems downloading RML products across multiple machines running everything from WinXP to Win10.
