    Default Re: Bigger monitors for DAW

    I've been using a stack for many years now
    main monitor is a 2K that is 31" diagonal @ 2880 x 1620
    monitor on top is a Dell 21" 1920 x 1200

    if the main monitor was any wider, it would impede the near-field throw

    main monitor has Saw full screen;
    upper monitor has VSTs and/or film/video render

    I do struggle to read the smaller text in Saw; track labels, for example are very hard to see...I've recently got a pair of glasses specifically for this set up...but they don't work very well for me

    my room is not treated...I have phantom noises I cannot track down...I believe they are computer cooling fan issues...which sometimes sounds like howl-round feedback

    I can't get too hung up perfect audio...it don't pay well enough

    I hadn't considered the resolution issues. I've always used the stock layout and not investigated whether we can change or scale fonts - but if the track title area doesn't scale - what is the point?
    I've also never used multiple displays. Maybe a 1024 monitor might be a workaround - could you set up your Fkeys that up so that most of your text oriented windows or dialogs land on that?

    Todd, I almost forgot, the byrdland looks like a nice ride. I also noted the (partial) symmetry of the amps. Do you run them in pairs?

    My Norlin Byrdland sounds better than it plays!
    I do love it...frets are pretty low...the Kluson Seal-Fast tuners are a special thing...it's my no1...yet I have a 2006 ES355 CS '64 RI that I love too

    oh boy...my amps
    it is currently set up for Wet/Dry/Wet
    The CyberTwins are disconnected which means the Fast-On speaker connections are disconnected and VHT 2562 (Black Beauty) feeds one speaker in each twin cab;
    The Tech 21 PE60s are cabs only right now with new EV 12L Classics inside fed by the VHT 2902; they are the wets (which is typically Lexicon PCM80 and 81 at the same time)
    so it's kind of a WetL+Dry/WetR+Dry where the dry is the exact same signal...so it's four speakers...is that what you mean by pairs?

    I don't think it's possible to scale the fonts. I would seriously struggle with less than two monitors. My F-Keys views are all painstakingly set up...I pretty much use 3 or 4 basic views, but with increasing numbers of tracks in a single view- so pretty much the same layout for each, just track height changing.

    I also work with the region file names off quite often, but seldom with soundwave hidden...I'd share my fkey views but it might take a while!

    I use a 43" TCL Smart TV as my monitor works great, but I run SAW in XP still on a video card that only does 1080 x 1920 HD which is good for me.

    Are you monitoring with headphones, or speakers? If speakers, do you find the large display influences the sound from them?

    I monitor from my QU-16 to Stereo Monitors and a Mono monitor and headphones. My TV/Monitor is set behind the Speakers so it has no effect on my speakers.
