Default Iowa City Jazz Festival Re-broadcast today

I figure that everybody's probably full up with things to keep them occupied today.
But if you happen to want to listen to some music, the Iowa City Jazz Festival main stage acts that I recorded in July are being streamed today on KCCK.

This is my post production mixes of the multi-track split I take from foh sound.
During the festival I record the full multi-track in SAW, while mixing the livestream for KCCK FM in SAC.
I've been recording the main stage since 2003 and doing double duty since the year after SAC was released (IIRC).
I'm really proud to show anybody that is curious how I'm using SAW and SAC for my work.

Here's a link and the playlist they've posted:

I find it very interesting, what configuration and preamps are you using in SAC? Do you use a touch screen? Do you use a MIDI controller?
    My Setup SAC:

    interface - digigramLX646
    preamps - Yamaha Ad8hr
    Outs - Yamaha DME80-es
    protocol audio - Ethersound
    I control gain remote ;

I don't do anything fancy in SAC, in the way a real live soundman would do, actually.
I stick strictly to the main mixer (with lots of f-key views for fast access, of course).

FX are minimal - channel strip eq, comp/gate, Freq. Analyzer, comp section of the Levelizer on three outputs (main, headphone monitor and video feed - when needed), two reverb/delay on aux channels - I used to use the SAW native verb in SAW32. I think I switched to Voxengo oldschool verb when I switched to SAW64, although that could be wrong.

No touch screen, no midi controller.
Strictly usb trackball mouse, standard usb keyboard and dvi 24" monitor.
These give me maximum stability on an out-of-date Dell desktop pc, rack mounted (an i3, or i7? - I don't recall, 16 or 32G ram, Win10 LTSC, nVidia 1070 graphics... I may be wrong, since I fiddled with this and two other pcs this Summer. But all are older, but stable and reliable.
I have just enough control to produce a passing live mix for the moment at hand...

48 channels of Midas DL16 and Behringer S16 preamps into two RME Digiface pcie cards/interfaces.

Post production is done on a slightly more up to date and robust pc, with enough juice to handle the ever growing demands of whatever plugins i can use with stability in SAW.. at least for now. Maybe it's a good thing that I am limited in my choice of "new" stuff. It keeps me from over-spending and forces me to get better with what I have.

I think it's a very good combination. But do you have remote gain control or do you have to have the DL16 and S16 next to each other for this?

As much as having remote control of the preamps could be nice, I have them in racks on the table right next to me. Adjusting levels manually is kind of a pain, for sure, but I have them set up this way to minimize the changes I had to make to the splitter box and cabling. It was far easier to adjust levels when I used Presonus 96k Digimax pres, with their own built in limiters (which worked really well if not pushed too hard). I set up the splitter at foh, with about 25ft of cable running to my desk right behind foh, I've done that for 20-some years and nothing else I've considered seems to justify the extra cost.

Monitoring from foh position can be challenging, especially if the foh engineer is sub-happy. But fortunately for me, most of the music leans more toward traditional jazz, so they'll usually respect the genre and go easy on the bass for the audience's sake.

I wish I had seen this earlier. Would have loved to hear it.

I don't have as much opportunity to take my SAC system out. There are many times that I really miss it. The newer digital boards are nice, but I just don't have the flexibility that SAC offers sometimes.

I'm not the best promoter - that's for sure!

I watch with interest, while the sound is doing their stuff. I don't know if I'd like using the digital boards, if I was running sound.
But for the little I do with it, I really love SAC.
