    Default SOT: DAW Discussions

    Good day,

Over the past few weeks I have been having rather in-depth discussions regarding DAWs.

What I find egregious, is that though a few were aware of RML Labs software applications, the majority were not.

Thus, when mention was made with reference to
RML Labs software applications the standard and most typical response is. "How can such software be any good if I have never heard of such software before?"

How do even begin to reason
or even to have an intelligent discussion with such individuals?

    Thus the following: [Click_Me]

I had this experience with a friend and her partner, they asked me to make the original soundtrack for a documentary. His first reaction when he heard I was working with SawStudio was a bit condescending. Never heard about it, for him, the pros only worked with Pro Tool and Mac.
During the sessions, we had a problem with synchronization between image and sound. Of course, it could only be SawStudio that was the cause. I contacted Bob who answered me in the day, which surprised my friend, a response as fast. Finally after various tests we understood that its audio exports were bad, bad conversion options in Final Cut.
We continue the work. Once finished, I give them the final edit, sound and image.
I come back to the studio a few hours later. When I entered, they just said
What such a good sound!! and they invited me to the restaurant.
Since that day, I think that if the pros work with Pro Tool and Mac, the people who work with Pro Tool and Mac are not necessarily pros.

Reminds me of playing promo records from distributors for teenagers to see their responses, before the records ever reached air-play. Typical teenager responses: "ugg, I don't like that - I never heard that before", or "My friends haven't told me about, that, so I'm not sure I like that". Only later to find they LOVED the same song once it was played on on the radio and their friends approved of it.
Moral of the story: Follow the crowd.... and you'll never go faster than the crowd.
