    Hello,

Can someone guide me where to buy a good sitar?

    Best wishes,

Guitar Center has a Mexican made one for $129 with a gig bag.

    Just kidding.

Do a Google search for mail order options, but I would imagine a sitar is like any instrument...you need to play it to determine if it's a good fit.

    Bertie,

since you are located in Europe maybe it's cheaper to shop from a dealer "near you": http://www.musik-produktiv.de/shop2/.../quelle/listen

Sorry I can't come up with a more specific shop, but maybe it is of use for you?

    Cheers,

    Veit

OT but I found out recently that Norah Jones is Ravi Shankar's daughter, speaking of sitar. It's cool to see how styles evolve/change in generations of musical families.

I was thinking about the Norah/Ravi connection just yesterday. How 'bout that? I thought. Then it occurred to me that Ravi probably has a couple thousand daughters. Doing the math, I'm surprised more don't have platinum records. Maybe they do.

    Really?
    Where'd you hear that?
    Are you sure?
You'd better be sure of this...if not you'll get trashed by the PC (or should I say the MAC) police around here....
