Default Revisiting the Redundancy Question Again (get it?)

    Cut to the chase:

Got a remote gig coming up. Considering adding a second computer to the rig for simultaneous, redundant recording. I'm thinking the simplest way is to split the lightpipe outputs from my three ADA8000s to run to two lightpipe-interfaced computers. I have the computers. I can get the splitters. I have a single Digiface and CardBus combo. I need a second lightpipe interface. Suggestions?

I'm looking at the M-Audio Lightbridge. Appreciate any feedback on how well this thing plays with SAW. And feedback on any other "affordable" interface ideas.

Frank was happy with the lightbridge. I suspect he uses them for at least one of his CIA systems. Maybe you could PM him as he doesn't seem to be around much these days (or ScottC, or Veit, or RobertR, or Perry, or Microstudio, to name a few - good to hear from BillP recently).

Just be aware that you can't chain them. One per system.

Cool, thanks, I'll try to PM Frank. What's a CIA system?

I don't need to chain them. I just want to feed a lightpipe split from my Behringers to a Digiface system and, perhaps, a Lightbridge system.

Name yer price! Perhaps a PM is in order.

It's his company. A joint venture with Mr Lentini, I believe.

I did not know that. Nice.

Dave if you are JUST splitting the output of the ADA8000's then a splitter like this should work on a SHORT RUN ! 1-2 meters max IMO. @ $9.00 !!!

But if you need to split the return signal there may be problems ???

Thanks, Buzz. Yeah, those are the ones I was gonna get. It's the second lightpipe computer interface that I'm figuring out.

No return signal split. I would return the three lightpipes from my Digiface to the ADA8000s so they can slave to the Digiface's W/C. I'd have the second lightpipe computer interface slave off of the split from the ADA's. At least that's my plan.

    How low can you go?
